Hampstead School Newsletter

This week has been an extraordinary celebration of curiosity, ambition, and possibility for our Year 11 students. We have been diving into the world of progression as part of our Year 11 Futures Week.

Over four inspiring days, our young people stepped beyond the classroom to engage with an exceptional range of visitors, from leading universities and global businesses to creative industries, public service professionals, and STEM innovators. Each session offered a window into future pathways, giving students the chance to ask questions, ignite new aspirations, and imagine what their own futures might hold.

From the Civil Service to Santander, from Mace Construction to AstraZeneca, from The Savoy Hotel to Oxford and Cambridge, our visitors shared not only their expertise but their passion. Whether exploring careers in medicine, engineering, finance, law, the arts, or entrepreneurship, our students were given opportunities that broadened their thinking and strengthened their confidence in the journey ahead.

We are immensely proud of the enthusiasm and maturity our students demonstrated throughout Futures Week. Their engagement reflects the bright potential we see in them every day, and we are grateful to every staff member and guest speaker who contributed to making this week such a meaningful experience.

Here’s to nurturing ambition, embracing opportunity, and supporting our students as they continue to shape their own futures. We will continue to look forward in our upcoming Year 11 Future Focus Day and are eagerly anticipating our Careers Fair later in the school year.

- Tamsin Morrell, Assistant Head

Whole School Notices

Donations Needed

Spare Jumpers and Coats – If you have school jumpers or winter coats in good condition that would fit a secondary school pupil and are no longer needed, we are gladly accepting donations for our students.

Books – we have set up a free book station for students in Reception. If you have any popular books for students aged 11+ that are no longer needed in your home, please bring them by!

Uniform Expectations

As the temperature has decreased significantly in recent days, we ask that all students attend school in appropriate warm clothing. At a minimum, students should wear a waterproof coat, and hats and gloves are strongly recommended where available. Complete information is available on the website.

To maintain high standards, please ensure that students attend in the correct school uniform. The following requirements must be adhered to:

  • Footwear: Shoes must be completely black, with no other colours or markings.
  • Trousers and Skirts: Only school trousers and skirts are permitted.
  • Leggings and Tracksuit Bottoms: These may not be worn unless it is the student’s designated PE day.
  • PE Kit: On PE days, all sportswear must be free from visible branding (Nike, Addisa etc).

Uniform Consultation

Many thanks to everyone who was able to complete the previous newsletter’s survey on options for our future school uniform. There were more than 200 responses from parents/carers, which are being considered now, alongside another 200+ we also got from students and staff. Every comment will be read, as all your opinions are valuable to us. We will also invite further views in due course and arrange some opportunities to look at sample garments. We will be focusing on affordability, practicality, and fairness as we consult and create our new policy.

Vaccinations

Thank you to those who engaged with the vaccinations that have been hosted through the school recently. As you may be aware, the incidence of flu is rapidly increasing.

Please click here to watch a webinar about vaccinations from Vaccination UK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGhAaqn2XNo

You may be aware from media coverage that there has been a nationwide decline in the number of children who are fully vaccinated against infectious illnesses such as measles.

Vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect your child against certain diseases, including measles, mumps, whooping cough, polio and meningitis. Without the immunity provided by a vaccination, your child is more likely to catch the disease and become seriously ill. This also puts other children and vulnerable adults at higher risk, as the disease can spread more easily when vaccination levels are lower.

Childhood vaccinations are offered free of charge by the NHS. We encourage you to make sure your child has received all the appropriate vaccinations for their age.

If you’re not sure if your child has had all of their routine vaccinations, check their personal health record (Red Book) or contact your GP surgery, which will have up-to-date records.

Opportunities Page

We have added lots more external opportunities for students on the school opportunities page.
